Samira found her passion for jewellery while learning jewellery making at the Central Saint Martin School of Art and Design. Soon after, she started her apprenticeship in Hatton Garden under Alan Gard, a jeweller with more than 60 years of experience in this time-honoured tradition.
Her current collection is primarily sterling silver and 18ct yellow gold worked in combination with natural stones, crystals and fossils. Samira’s inspiration comes from a variety of sources, ranging from the endless organic forms found in nature, to traditional motifs and patterns of a Persian carpet. However, emotions, memories, experiences and nostalgia from her personal life are the weight behind her pieces; in a way, she says, they are her response to the world around her.
Transforming raw materials into a finished product is the closest she has come to magic and alchemy.
Samira Jafari is showing her new collection at “Scoop International” on 12-14 February at the Saatchi Gallery Kings Road, Gallery 1, Ground Floor.
We can’t wait to see her new collection at the exhibition!
